I enjoyed all these pictures of the mosque. The link #1 to the past photo with the dome is beautiful. I can't imagine the difficulty involved with the process of renovation with a structure that's many centuries old (like this mosque).
I've been involved in two projects in South Carolina were we've taken two buildings and "renovated" them and only the brick exterior wall was left standing. Everything else removed and then the building built back to the brick wall. Of course the reason for doing this was to keep the original architectural design of the building intact.
Has me thinking about starting a blog with photos of projects I've been a part. Never enough time.
