Very good night shot, I've never seen anything like that before. Does the water come from a river or from underground?
Thanks wolf. This is a semi-partial view of a complex of about 30 watermills. The water comes from the river through 3 tunnels which are carved in the sandstone structure, each of them staying in a different level.

The historic watermills of Shushtar are said to be from mid-Sassanid era (i.e. about 200 AD).
